Carter High School is a college preparatory school located in La Joya, Texas. It offers classes in grades nine and 10 that enroll a total of more than 1,600 students. Its academic programs reflect an integration of information literacy, technology and proven methods of learning, and include subjects, such as language arts, math, science, social studies, foreign language, visual and performing arts, physical education and technology. Its facilites include libraries, a gymnasium, cafeteria, computer lab, and tennis courts and playing fields. Its fine arts programs include vocal, instrumental and visual arts and theater. It offers various opportunities for extracurricular activities, including more than 30 interscholastic sports. Carter High School is a part of the La Joya Independent School District.
