Ashley Clark, MD, is board-certified psychiatrist whose practice focuses on womens reproductive mental health issues, such as premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), and mood and anxiety disorders during pregnancy and the postpartum period. She is part of the https://health.ucsd.edu/specialties/psych/clinic-based/reproductive-mental-health/Pages/default.aspx at UC San Diego Health.Dr. Clark enjoys helping patients with a variety of mental health challenges. She is also an addiction specialist with expertise in diagnosing and treating people with substance-related health conditions, unhealthy use of substances or addiction. Her research examines the effectiveness of support groups for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders for women in the military.Prior to joining UC San Diego Health in 2017, she was a psychiatrist at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital. She was the founder of the Naval Medical Center San Diegos first perinatal support group for pregnant and postpartum women with mood and anxiety disorders. She also served on the executive board of directors of the non-profit Postpartum Health Alliance for five years.Dr. Clark was chief resident during her residency training in psychiatry at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. As a part of her residency training, Dr. Clark completed an outpatient program devoted to assessing and treating women with psychiatric conditions associated with hormonal challenges and reproductive life events at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She earned her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. Dr. Clark is board-certified in psychiatry and addiction medicine.
