      Dr Leifeste has moved back to the Texas Hill County, which his family helped establish in the 1840s. He is an avid outdoorsman. He served in the U.S. Army where he was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat in Iraq. He holds a faculty appointment at Texas A&M Medical School.
