Established in 1978, Families in Crisis is a United Way agency that assists and empowers the victims of family violence and sexual assault in Bell, Coryell and Hamilton counties in Texas. The organization offers transportation assistance; provision of food, clothing and personal items, and referrals to medical, legal, law enforcement and social service agencies in the community. It provides a 24-hour crisis hot line, as well as intervention counseling and support groups. The organization conducts various workshops and educational training sessions. Families in Crisis offers safe shelter and outreach services for individuals. The organization provides assistance for victims to assess individual situations, plan short- and long-term goals and gain necessary information to make decisions. It offers case management and assistance services for residents in obtaining housing, employment, skills training, financial options and legal advocacy support.
