General Info
Audubon House was built in the 1840s by Captain John Huling Geiger as a residence for his family and he lived there for more than a century. The House now has fine period furnishings on display and an outside Cook House. The original family cook house was destroyed in fire and in 2012 a new historical accurate cook house was constructed. Today the Cook House is furnished with antiques of the period typically found in an outdoor kitchen. A highlight of any visit to the Audubon House is a tour of the property’s one-acre tropical gardens where orchids, bromeliads orchids, bromeliads, rare tropical palms and crotons. The Audubon Gallery of Fine Arts offers visitors a unique opportunity to purchase original hand-colored Audubon lithographs, modern reproductions.
