General Info
Therapy for Adult Individuals and Couples Therapy can address a wide range of concerns, such as difficult moods, interpersonal conflict at work or at home, parenting challenges, substance abuse, infidelity, grief and loss, or excessive self doubt. Some people seek therapy to address sexual issues. Factors that influence ones emotions and behaviors often lie outside of awareness and can create dissatisfaction and a diminished sense of wellbeing. By developing a close, collaborative and blame free relationship with my clients I help them increase their emotional and intellectual awareness of what some of these factors are. This in turn leads to a shift in perception and experience and offers a greater sense of choice in living as full and satisfying a life as possible. Specifically, in working with couples, I help them identify repetitive, destructive dynamics and the part each partner inadvertently plays in perpetuating those patterns while developing an understanding of the underlying, personal vulnerabilities involved. I strive to help couples draw on the best of who they each can be in order to disrupt such painful or ineffective interactions. There is then the possibility of fostering the kind of relationship and life together they each envision. For most couples, developing new capacities with an emphasis on connection and a validation of each person’s contribution that connection is involved.
