Established in 1965, Lake Youngs Elementary School is located in Kent, Wash. The school provides general academic programs to more than 490 students in kindergarten through grade six. It provides special education classes for gifted and talented students. It offers speech, language, occupational and physical therapies for students with special needs. Lake Youngs Elementary School operates a student council, band, orchestra, choir and chess club. The school also offers accelerated reader and English Language Learners programs. It has a parent-teacher-student association that conducts several fundraising activities, including family nights, book fairs and talent shows. In addition, it supports a range of sports activities that includes volleyball and track and field.
