In November 2010 I went there and enjoyed the buffet food and good service. The staff told me they had the same chef as when it was known as the Chart House. I plan to go back again this weekend (Nov. 2011). As far as tipping goes, I thoroughly resent it when ANY restaurant adds a tip in the percentage THEY deem appropriate. And I certainly tell them so. Ten percent is good enough for God and it should be good enough for anyone else. I, and only I, decide upon the tip percentage. If the kitchen cook makes a mistake, it is not the server's fault. I am polite in pointing out the error and give the restaurant the opportunity to correct it. Their attitude determines how much I will pay then, and in the future.

To those that think servers at a buffet do not deserve a tip like a normal table service restaurant. Your server still only makes $2.13 an hour and strives for those tips. The companies very rarely make up the difference if you do not make the minimum wage for that day in tips and hours. So the next time you are sitting at ANY table service restaurant, regardless of the buffet or regular service, take the initiative to tip double the tax on your bill. If your tax is $2.34, you should tip $4.68. It is just common courtesy; they have families they support too. Secondly, I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. My experience at the Lighthouse Buffet in Kemah, TX was good until I got my bill and saw that a 15% tip was added to my bill without my permission. I do not mind leaving a tip but I do mind when it is added to my bill at a buffet. The server in my opion does not do what a server does in a non buffet restaurtant and therefore does not deserve to get a high tip like the others do. I feel that this was wrong and my dinning experience was ruined by this. The food was good but I will not go back.
