Longfellow Elementary School enrolls students in pre-kindergarten through grade five. Located in Kansas City, Mo., it is a part of the Kansas City, Missouri School District, which provides learning opportunities to more than 26,000 students. Founded in 1867, the district has a work force of over 4,000 teachers and operates nearly 40 elementary schools. Its schools academic curricula include various subjects, such as communications arts, health and physical education, mathematics, instructional technology, social studies, science and practical arts. The district s schools offer a variety of federal programs on early childhood development, such as Head Start. It features an adult basic education program that enrolls more than 6,000 students in day and evening classes and provides job assistance programs.
