I lived in a house about 5 years ago and my water bills were month by month getting higher and higher. I mean by hundreds of dollars. My bills were originally $99 every other month. It went to $300, then $600 and $900. I checked for leaks my landlord did also and gave me a written statement that there were no leaks found from the plumber. I provided this to the water company the $300 bill was adjusted the others were not. My water was turned off and even still I had water had to not flush the toilet wait 30 mins then the water could be used. The water company sent someone to look and stated there was a leak in the sewer that was on my property which made me responsible. I informed my landlord he stated it was all city. I eventually went to court for the water bill, I informed the judge how does a single mom that works all day and children that are at school run a bill to those high amounts. The judge argeed with me yet I never heard anything and assumed the issue was over. About 2 years ago I wanted to move to a house and low and behold a water bill for over $3200 showed up so I couldn't get the house. I called the water company and I asked about the court case they knew nothing with that high amount I was like I want a house eventually and asked about payment arrangements they told me I couldn't I would have to pay it all at once! HUH!! No way who can do that!! I don't know what to do at this point to get services so I can move to a home. So disappointed in the water company in Kansas city
