a do-not-miss! fascinating look at the 1850s in a wonderful space. call for prices/specials.
This is THE finest restoration we have seen anywhere! When even CLOSE to KC, we always visit the Arabia! These folks are to be commended for their time and expertise in recovering this magnificent ship. It should be required viewing by every school in the area. We have sent many friends, even from KC, not to miss this exhibit. I do become sad, however, when I think of the donkey! Can't say enough good things about the Arabia Steamboat Museum! It's really a hidden treasure for Missouri!
- General Info
- The Steamboat Arabia was built in West Brownsville, PA at the boat-yard of John S. Pringle in 1853. The 28-foot-tall paddlewheels could push the steamboat upstream at a speed of over 5 miles per hour. Arabia was considered a dependable vessel and soon gained a reputation for speed, safety and comfort traveling to Ohio and Mississippi rivers for about two years until she was purchased.
