Sensei James Thompson (KyuDan - 9th degree black belt) is an excellent teacher. He studied under Kanei Uechi himself and has built up over 45 years of experience. You also get Aikido, which melds very well wth Uechi Ryu, and Kobudo (weapons). The weapons include Sai,Bo Staff, Eaku (oar), Tunfa, Kama, Jo, and more that I haven't started to learn yet. Everyone is treated with dignity and respect. I have always felt welcome there and leave with more knowledge than what I started with. There are many other high ranking black belts that train there ,1st - 7th, and every one of them are nice and helpful. I've been training there for three years and have benefited greatly by it. My confidence level has gone up, I stay in shape, and my focus has increased. You can also stop by the dojo any time during a class to check it out. 12:00-1:30pm Mon-Fri (until 1:00 Wed-Aikido) or 6:30-8:00pm (7:30 on Thurs Aikido). If you want to see a good workout, come at night. Most Black Belts come Fri 12:00.
