Founded in 1933, the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission is a non-profit organization that provides support to homeless citizens in southwest Michigan. It offers short-term emergency shelter and food, as well as a variety of long-term programs to address homelessness issues. The organization operates residential services department that provides various amenities, such as bedrooms, bathrooms, lounges, common areas, dining rooms, playgrounds and laundry facilities through men's, women's and children s ministries. The Kalamazoo Gospel Mission runs the Discipleship Program, which offers individual, family and group counseling to overcome issues of substance abuse, negative self-worth and childhood abuse. It organizes food drives to distribute cereal, sugar, juices, salt, spices, condiments, salads, cheese, plastic tableware, paper napkins, and canned and dried items. The organization is supported by individuals, churches, businesses, community groups and foundations.
