The Hawaii Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency. It offers several support services, including gun registration, animal control, fingerprinting, concealed weapon permits, and traffic and parking law enforcement. The Hawaii Police Department operates a communication center that maintains a multichannel police system and provides communication services for police, fire and emergency medical assistance. The department supports the Crime Stoppers program, which is affiliated with the National Crime Stoppers Organization and provides opportunities for citizens to report illegal activities to volunteers of the program. The Hawaii Police Department supports and conducts several youth events and neighborhood and vacation watch programs.
