General Info

Jarrell Plantation State Historic Site is made up of two historic cotton farms both Dick Jarrell’s farm and mill complex from the turn of the 20th century and John Jarrell’s 1847 homestead from the original cotton plantation. Along with over 25 original structures, the historic site houses one of the largest and most complete collections of original family artifacts of this time period in the Southeast, including the furnishings, textiles, tools, and equipment. This farm is also remarkable for covering more than a century and a half of agricultural history within a few acres. Donated to the state of Georgia in 1975 by the Jarrell family for use as an educational historic site, Jarrell Plantation is an excellent example of self-sustaining farms in the state.Jarrell Plantation State Historic Site is made up of two historic cotton farms both Dick Jarrell’s farm and mill complex from the turn of the 20th century and John Jarrell’s 1847 homestead from the original cotton plantation.
