The Clayton County Board of Education operates Clayton County Public Schools. The board establishes general policies and approves expenditures and appointments of the schools. It also sets tax rates and looks after school sites and their construction. The board is advised and informed of school needs and progress by the superintendent, who is responsible for school district administration. The Clayton County Board of Education also focuses on student achievements. It welcomes public input at its work sessions and allocates up to 30 minutes for public comments. The board follows laws, rules and regulations stipulated by the State of Georgia, the United States Government and the Georgia High School Association. The Clayton County Board of Education is located in Jonesboro, Ga.
