The Johnstown Police Department is a law enforcement agency that issues auto releases, accident reports, alarm permits, and firearm permits and releases. It maintains a criminal investigation division that undertakes cases related to burglaries, homicides, thefts and robberies. The Johnstown Police Department s patrol section conducts regular patrols and responds to calls for service. The department also provides traffic management and first aid services. It has a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, which specializes in bomb disposal and hostage and barricaded gunman situations. Located in Johnstown, Pa., the Johnstown Police Department operates a K-9 team that performs duties related to building and vehicle searches, tracking criminals and crowd control.
