That’s why a lawsuit should never be filed unless it helps keep our community safe or rights an ethical or moral wrong. A company not doing a thorough background check to find out its driver has a reckless driving history, not training its employees properly to perform their jobs in safe manner or not enforcing its own policies of making sure its employees perform their jobs safely ... these are choices that companies make. Drinking and driving, texting and driving or running a red light ... these are choices that drivers make. A healthcare provider not properly monitoring a mother and child during pregnancy or childbirth, not having someone in charge of a patient’s care, not ruling out a potential life threatening condition when symptoms indicate the patient may have that life threatening condition ... these are choices that healthcare providers make. A company not following its own safety policies, a driver not following the rules of the road or a healthcare provider not following the standard of care ... by holding these wrongdoers responsible and accountable for the harm they cause, we keep our community safe. We keep the same thing from happening again. Accepting personal responsibility and accountability is the right thing to do ... the ethical and moral thing to do. If a company, driver or healthcare provider refuses to accept personal responsibility or accountability for the full amount of damage they cause, then a lawsuit should be filed and the wrongdoer held responsible and accountable to keep our community safe.
