North Georgia Community Action is a nonprofit organization that began operations in 1974. It serves low-income families, individuals with disabilities and senior citizens. The organization administers the Energy Assistance Program, which offers financial services to households with home energy bill payments. It provides attic and wall insulation, appliance replacement, caulking and heating repair services through various third-party providers. North Georgia Community Action manages community food banks and pantries that offer staple goods to low-income people. It provides rural transportation services for Pickens, Gilmer, Fannin, Whitfield and Gordon counties in Georgia. The organization works in partnership with the United Way of Northwest Georgia, Jasper Banking Company, Georgia Power Company and Atlanta Gas Light. It additionally offers online donation options.
