Summer 2017 Sewing Classes

• Registration Information: Register online at www.continentalsewing.com by clicking on Classes. Only those who have paid are considered enrolled in the class, so please sign up early to avoid disappointment. No children are permitted to accompany adults to class. If listed classes are full we will schedule additional sessions if possible. You must purchase fabric for your classes at Continental Sewing Center. You must be at least 18 years old to take classes at Continental Sewing. Refund Policy: Refunds are available only when cancellation is made 48 hours before the first class. • Beginning Sewing$40.00
  When: Tote Bag - Tues., Jun, 13 & 20, Apron - Tues., Jul. 18 & 25; Time: 5:30 – 7:30 PM. Learn to read a pattern, lay out and cut fabric, operate a sewing machine and use basic construction techniques while making a tote bag and/or apron. 2 classes each session. Supplies available at the first class

• Sarah Sailor Dress2 Classes: $40.00
  When: Thurs., June 15 & 22; Time: 5:30 – 7:30 PM. Sarah by Maja's Heirlooms is a sailor dress that comes in sizes 2 to 16! The dress can be made with or without sleeves and has buttons down the back. Supplies available at the first class

• Scalloped Shorts1 Class: $40.00
  When: Tues., June 27; Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00PM. Adapt a regular shorts pattern to have a scalloped hem. Supplies available at the first class

• Gigi2 Classes: $40.00
  When: Tues., Jun. 27 & Jul. 11; Time: 5:30 – 7:30 PM. This adorable, pull-on dress is very easy to make and perfect for toddler to pre-teen. The dress has a back tie that can be made into a bow or a stylish 'knot', inseam pockets, short sleeves and no buttons or zippers! Pleats in the back add a little extra fullness. Please note that you will skip July 4th. Supplies available at the first class

• Julia1 Class: $50.00
  When: Fri., Jun. 30; Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Julia is a sophisticated waistline dress with classic styling featuring princess seams and a round yoke. The dress is fully lined and buttons in the back. The straight, capped sleeve accentuates the elegant bodice. The flattering skirt has inverted box pleats on the front and back and pockets that every girl loves. Bring your lunch if you'd like. Supplies available at the first class

• Luke Camp Shirt and Shorts2 Classes: $40.00
  When: Thurs., July 6 & 13; Time: 5:30 – 7:30 PM. Luke is an easy to make shorts set for boys. The camp shirt has set in sleeves, and the shorts have pleats. Supplies available at the first class

• Smocking (Basic)1 Class: $45.00
  When: Sat., Jul. 8; Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Learn the basics of geometric smocking to create your own masterpieces

• Abigail Knit Dress1 Class: $50.00
  When: Fri., Jul. 14; Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Abigail is a comfy knit dress or shirt with a flattering, girly figure. Because it has 10 panels that flare out at the hemline, you can change the look of Abigail by mixing & matching fabric designs. Try a solid color version for a more sophisticated look or a mixture of prints for a more casual, funky look. Bring your lunch if you'd like. Supplies available at the first class

• Playhouse Knit Dress2 Classes: $40.00
  When: Thurs, Jul. 20 & 27; Time: 5:30 – 7:30 PM. This dress, from Fishsticks, can be made of all knit or mixed knit and woven fabrics. A great way to increase your confidence with your serger! Supplies available at the first class

New Owner Classes

• (Only for those who purchased machines and software from Continental Sewing Center.) You Must Pre-register! – This is very important! Call or email to register. The size of these classes is limited to assure adequate individual attention. If a large number enroll, we'll need to offer a second session so everyone can learn as much as possible!
• Janome Mechanical New Owner Class
  When: Fri., Jun. 16; Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. This class is for those new owners with mechanical machines. If you turn a knob to select your stitches, this is the class for you! We will cover buttonholes, blind hem, plus other machine techniques. Bring your machine, instruction book and accessories

• Janome Computer New Owner Class
  When: Fri., Jun. 16; Time: 1:30 – 3:30 PM. This class is for those new owners with computerized machines. If you push a button to select your stitches, this is the class for you. We will cover buttonholes, blind hem, plus other machine techniques. Bring your machine, instruction book and accessories

• Janome Machine Embroidery I
  When: Fri., Jul. 21; Time: 10:00 AM– 12:00 PM. Learn basic embroidery skills. We will cover stabilizers, hooping, threads, design placement and much more. Bring your machine and embroidery accessories

• Janome Digitizer Jr. Software
  When: Fri., Jul. 21; Time: 1:30 – 3:30 PM. Learn to use the software that allows you to digitize simple designs, combine designs and transfer designs from your computer to your machine. Bring your laptop loaded with the software

• Viking New Owner
  When: Fri., Jul. 28; Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. This class is for those new owners of Husqvarna / Viking machines. We will cover buttonholes, blind hem, plus other machine techniques. Bring your machine, instruction book and accessories

• Monogram Wizard Plus
  When: Fri., Jul. 28; Time: 1:30 – 3:30 PM. Learn to use this simple yet powerful monogramming software, including transferring designs to your machine. Bring your laptop loaded with the software

• Serger II
  When: Fri., Aug. 4; Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Bring your own serger and accessories
