Founded in 1998, South Elementary School serves more than 600 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The school also conducts classes in reading, speech, art, music, and health and physical education. It operates a library and media center that offers various resources, such as books, magazines and journals. In addition, the school conducts a range of special classes. It has a staff that includes a psychologist, speech pathologist, and physical and occupational therapists. South Elementary School also houses the district's early childhood special education program. The school is a part of Jackson R-2 Schools. South Elementary School is located in Jackson, Mo.
