Established in 1979, Freedom Acres School is a center-based facility that provides educational services to students. It offers programs for students with cognitive, moderate cognitive and emotional impairments. The school provides a range of infant-toddler and early intervention programs. It also provides a secondary alternative general education program. Freedom Acres School s students with moderate cognitive impairments attend programs housed in Ionia Public School buildings. Its adult students with moderate cognitive impairments attend programs in a home setting at the Independent Living Center. The school s staff includes teachers, paraprofessionals, and speech, occupational and physical therapists. It is a part of the Ionia County Intermediate School District, which operates several schools and other educational organizations. Freedom Acres School is located in Ionia, Mich.
