Dr. Harold A. Smith is an established dentist practicing Dental Sleep Medicine in Indianapolis. Dr. Smith is a valued member of medical teams in Indianapolis and beyond. He holds the designation of Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine since 2001. Dr. Smith has served as President of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), a national and international organization, from 2002-2004 and 2016-2018. He has been instrumental in developing the standard of care and the standards of practice of the AADSM for the practice of Dental Sleep Medicine and Oral Appliance Therapy. Dr. Smith, since 1993, has the experience, knowledge and expertise to treat sleep apnea, a serious medical condition, and snoring with OAT. He uses custom made FDA approved oral appliances and works very closely with his physician colleagues. Dr. Smith was awarded the Distinguished Service Award and has published several papers in collaboration with his peers. He is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and he has been nominated 13 consecutive years as the” Best Dentists” in the Indianapolis Monthly. Dr. Smith graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington with an A.B. degree and from Indiana University School of Dentistry with a DDS degree. He is married and has three children and three grandsons. Dr. Smith has served on many levels of organized dentistry and community organizations throughout the years.
