I think Carmel Hills Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center should be shut down. My best friend's father was sent there and they weren't taking good care of him. He had sores, they didn't work with him when he was having trouble swallowing and eventually he ended up in the hospital. He passed away in the hospital because they didn't take good care of him. Also, while he was there not only did change go missing from his room, his dentures also mysteriously vanished then reappeared. My step sister's aunt was also in Carmel Hills, she had cancer that made her bones weak. One of the nurses there dropped her and didn't report it. The fall caused my step sister's aunt to break a hip and her spine. Another family member came up to move her and she cried out in pain, she was taken to the hospital and also passed away. DO NOT SEND ANYONE HERE! Based on what I have been told they don't take care of the people under their care.

Please do your research. I know how hard it is to do in a crunch. I would NOT recommend this facility and I will NOT take any of my loved ones their again, My grandfather was only there for a week and it was the worst week of his and our lives. Improper medications and administration of medications, very little supervision and care, negative and hostile employees. Overall I am not sure how this place can stay in business by letting patients sit in urine and feces for several hours and refusing to help them to the restroom, not to mention the mistakes with the medication and just plain ignoring the patients needs. In the week we were their I did not see one smiling face from patients to employees. Please check it out before you use the facility.

In the beginning my mother's care was good, facility seemed clean and staff attentive. As time went on, her care deteriorated. Mom was found wet frequently in 2005/6,met with administrator,plan implemented-yet mom still wet through clothing. We found sheets not changed for over a week at a time, hair not cared for or even washed,safety device unattached between mom and wheelchair,despite requests and a fall from her chair.Worse yet, was how our family found her feet Dec 06. Upon inspection, we found the most disgusting buildup of brownish, foul-smelling, caked on layers of debris under and between all toes on both feet.I washed and scrubbed to find pink soft feet underneath.I asked to speak with the podiatrist- was given # for podiatrist who hasn't serviced CHLC for 1 1/2 years!What was my family to do?We met with Administrator/DON/Nurse- AGAIN. Some improvement was noticed, after years of expressed concerns. Nurse/advocate who was making changes, no longer in same position.????????

I would not recommend this facility to anyone. The rehab staff was excellent but the nursing staff was horrible. My Grandfather went there for rehabilitation after a mild case of neuropathy, he was there for about 25 days and only received 2 baths. When he or a family member called for a nurse they wouldn't come and we would have to go and find one. The doctor they have on staff was horrible as well. They put diapers on him because he couldn't walk to the bathroom on his own and wouldn't check his diaper all day and his bed and clothes would be soaked in urine. He became constipated and come to find out he had complete bowel blockage and had to have emergency surgery to correct it. If the doctor would have paid attention to the symptoms he was having he would have known this a lot sooner. My Grandfather died almost 4 weeks ago and him being in this nursing home had a lot to do with his passing. Please do not put your loved one in this facility.
