Established in 1976, Chelsea School provides educational services to children with learning disabilities. The school serves students in grades 5 through 12. Its teachers are certified by the Maryland State Department of Education and focus on special education research and methodology. The school offers a range of reading intervention programs. Chelsea School s academic curriculum includes language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and physical and health education. It also conducts computer and technology education, music, fine arts and history classes. The school organizes a variety of athletic activities, including basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer, and track and field. It operates chess, photography, band, literacy and Spanish clubs. In addition, the school conducts guidance counseling sessions for students and parents. Chelsea School is located in Silver Spring, Md., and conducts monthly parent-teacher conferences.
