- DUI/DWI
- Wrongful DeathA wrongful death action was filed on behalf of the widow and minor children of a man who was killed when his vehicle was rear-ended by an eighteen wheel truck. In the lawsuit, we proved that the driver of the eighteen wheeler fell asleep after driving more hours than the maximum allowed by D.O.T. regulations and that the truck he was operating exceeded the maximum weight limit. The deceased was the family’s breadwinner and the recovery provided the widow and minor children with sufficient funds for their support and education of the children.
- Traffic ViolationsA fourteen year old pedestrian was crossing a county road to his mailbox, when he was struck and killed by a vehicle. We were able to prove, through investigation and reconstruction, that the vehicle’s driver was speeding because he was late for work. Faced with these facts, the insurance company paid its policy limits to the parents of the deceased minor.
- Fraud
- RobberyA head injury with hearing and balance impairments sustained by an employee of a convenience store during a robbery, from which she also developed severe panic attacks and phobias – Her treating psychiatrist testified that the employee was totally unable to work because of the physical and mental conditions.
- MisdemeanorsYou might be tempted to rely on the mercy of the court system if you are facing your first offense. After all, how bad could the worst-case scenario possibly be? Well, depending upon the specific circumstances of your case, the answer is “pretty bad”. For something as simple as a misdemeanor possession charge for marijuana, for example, you could face a year in jail, a year of probation, and/or a fine of $6,000. If the possession is for a substance other than marijuana – something like heroin or cocaine – then the charge could increase to five years in state prison, a fine of $15,000, and five years’ worth of probation.
- Drug CrimesHave you been arrested of, or are you under investigation for, federal or state drug charges? If so, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. First of all, federal and state drug laws allow aggressive prosecution for drug possession, drug trafficking, and various related drug crimes. The criminal penalties that you might face as a result have become more and more severe as time passes, including the Civil Asset Forfeiture Reform Act (2000), which allows for your assets to be forfeited or seized for drug crimes. Finally, the Patriot Act has served to only further impact the court’s tolerance for certain arrest procedures that has not been previously permitted.
- Hit and RunIt is important to learn the full extent of your child’s injuries and the repercussions of these injuries on their future. Insurance companies look out for their own best interests and frequently encourage parents to hastily settle their children’s claims. Our firm will look out for the best interest of your child. We are a caring and understanding firm with a long history of protecting the rights of children. George Allen Moore will aggressively fight for the rights of your child.
