General Info
have 36 years of experience making custom fitted slipcovers. During those years I also did reupholstering for 29 years. In 2004, when my husband retired, we relocated from New Hampshire to Hudson Fl., where I started a new slip covering business. My slip covering services include: porch/patio cushions, sofas, chairs, loveseats, throw pillows, shams, duvet covers, daybed covers, valances, cornice boards and drapes. I also cut foam to replace old foam in cushions. My service also includes, showing fabric samples in your home and helping you with color matching and pattern coordination. Most pieces of furniture can be custom pin fitted in your home. My service area includes towns within 50 miles of Hudson, Fl. My sewing skills started with Mom teaching me to sew, when I was about five years old and before grade school. I remember well, my first task was learning to thread a needle and hand sew scraps of cloth together, leftover from her sewing projects. After that I learned the art of pumping the old treadle sewing machine. Learning how to tread the needle and wind the bobbin was a necessity. Oh yes, keeping the fingers away from that sharp needle was important too. I practiced sewing on scraps of fabric. Once I could finally sew a straight line, that passed Mom?s inspection, I tackled my first sewing project, an apron. From the apron I graduated on to bigger and harder things, like the simple skirt and then on to blouses. In high school, my Home Economics teacher guided me in the making of my first tailored suit. All through school I made most of my own clothes, in addition to helping Mom with some of the family sewing. I was a 4-H Junior leader in sewing for about 3 years. After marriage I taught myself to upholster, I began by recovering a rust colored sleeper sofa that didn't?t match our other furniture. With screwdriver and pliers in hand I removed and numbered each piece of fabric. Using these pieces as a pattern, I cut out a new cover. Sta
