Provided by YP.comWalt know older weapons like nobody else. Yes Cabelas may be less but the clerks there know less thank I do. 40-50 dollars is what most stores charge for a FFL transfer. They are a business and need to pay the bills. You did buy the weapon from elsewhere didn't you. Mike

Provided by YP.comThis is absolutely the worst gun shop I have ever been to. The prices are ridiculous, and the staff is at best rude and at worst blatantly insulting. The grandson has personally handed me an uncleared handgun, and then raised his voice at me when I cleared it and pulled the trigger to drop the striker. I have personally experienced, and witnessed multiple times both Walt and the grandson berate customers for placing gun cases or firearms on their precious glass show cases. FOR GODS SAKE BUY SOME MATS if it is that important to you. Their FFL transfer fees are ridiculous at $50. Honestly, their is no redeeming quality to this store in any way shape or form. I have popped in once a year for probably the past 8 years, and have never seen anything that resembled a fair price let alone a deal. Same old over-priced guns, same old bottom of the barrel courtesy and service. Quite frankly, this store is a determent to the shooting community in Livingston County.

Provided by YP.comThis place has the worst possible customer service I have ever encountered. And their prices are way too high compared to anyone in the state. Transfer fees are more than double of any FFL out there. Will never get any business from me. Stay away from here folks!

Provided by YP.comJust awful. Grandson is an idiot and the old man is a d-bag. I will not be going there anymore and I suggest you do the same. Why would I patronize a store that disrespects its customers.

Provided by YP.comI happen to stop in this place and noticed they had .22 long rifle. I made a stop every day to pick up two boxes. In the meantime I was looking for a friendly place as guns galore a place I dont desire to spend my money. I had several talks with Walt's grandson granted he's knowlegable but disrespectful too. I questioned about getting accessories to my hand gun. When I pulled my hand gun to unload it. The grandson went bazurk said don't expect to pull a gun unless you want one pointed at you. I was wtf? I have been to many gun shops they have no problem as long as you unload. Also this kid trys to tell me its brandishing..dude its not I work law enforcement and I wasnt weaving my weapon with disregard. Knows lot about guns. But do you law studying too. I will choose no to do buisness with someone so rude. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/_/dict.aspx?rd=1&word=brandishing

Provided by YP.comI bought an old revolver a couple years ago that worked out well. The secret to getting along with Walt is be sure to wipe your feet at the door, don't bring in any drinks or snacks, be prepared to be talked down to , berated or ridiculed and for goodness sake, don't touch or put any item on top of the glass countertops.Other than that, a great place to find the unusual firearm.

Provided by YP.comI had a rifle shipped to me through Powder Keg. They were extremely helpful with the process as its the first time I've been through it. They made it a pretty painless procedure. From the first phone call I made until I left with rifle in tote, they were helpful and informative. I found it best that as long as I treated Walt with respect, he treated me .likewise. The seller of the rifle I purchased nearly gave up with selling to me due to the way he was treated from another gun shop that had great review. The seller was pleased when I asked him to change over to the Powder Keg and made it so I could own the holy grail of my personal collection. Many thanks to Walt and the guys!

After shopping around, I like Walt's Powder Keg. Walt has a nice collection of guns with wood stocks. He has reloading supplies. I get every question I have answered. I have now bought 4 weapons from Walt and David. I am going to buy another pistol from them, as they have a huge selection of pistols and revolvers. He has ammunition for all types of calibers of guns. Try getting ammo from the bigger box stores and you realize they carry only the top selling 9 calibers. I read the other reviews and really. . . I don't understand what they found lacking. I am completely happy with the Powder Key and would recommend them. - Jim
The nasty little signs all over this store about wiping your feet, no food or drinks and especially don't put your hands on his precious glass top display cases are very much in keeping with Walt's attitude. Thankfully, he has recently added a very nice, friendly young fellow to help out.

Provided by YP.comWhat A D- Bag this old man should just close the dam doors if he doesnt want to do business. I took 2 beautiful and collectable firearms in to have him look at them. He asked what I want for my Luger P08 I tell him a starting price and he was like, I cant come near that. Well what would you offer? His response "whats that matter". Hmmm I thought thats how you negotiate? but any way never again will I turn his door knob. and neither should you.

Provided by YP.comI wouldn't buy anything from Walt. He's rude, ignorant, and too broke to give you a fair price for your trade. He's your typical smart-*** egotistical gun dealer. Do yourself a favor and go to Cabela's or buy off the internet. An *** like this doesn't deserve your business.

didn't have much in stock, its a very small little store. I Ordered a mossberg 590a1 and got if for a great price. he beat cabelas and any other local store i called. The store owner, walt seemed like a friendly old school gentleman and was strait forward and made buying very easy. He says it should be in on Wednesday. thats 4 business days. we will see. my only complaint is nothing in stock and what was there seemed over priced, but as for ordering again it was cheap. remember this is one of the few small town private businesses left in america
My wife decided to surprise me with a pistol for Christmas. I had only discussed it briefly with her but she was able to give them a good description and I got the gun that I wanted. The were very nice to her and led her through the purchase process and told her they would help her if she needed it for the ownership transfer to me. Yes, the pistol was list price but that is to e expected when it has to be custom ordered and built.

In all my years of collecting guns, I have never dealt with a more ingorant staff pedaling such poor quality over-priced guns. I would not recommend this store to anyone, unless you enjoy poor customer service (bordering on flat-out rude) and getting swindled.

Provided by YP.comThe powder keg is rather entertaining place to purchase ammo and firearms from. Thats all your gonna get with this tiny strip mall ammo dump... You have to have a prior knoowlege of whatever guns or ammunition your going to buy at this place, if not be prepared to be treated like your autistic, by the presumed old man who i think is the owner? customer satisfaction/public realtions issue aside, that place has alot of hard to find rifle calibers, not easily found in sporting goods stores. If you order your ammo online, or simply buy it at another establishment, then avoid this..... hovever if you (have a hard to find) rifle caliber shooter like me, then you'll appreciate the fact that somewhere within 20+ miles has what you need. the owner is known to me and my friends as the "ammo nazi", but if you can tolerate him... fine whatever works for me works for anyoone else. If you dont really know a whole lot about guns, and or just getting started, or plan to get into it---- STAY AWAY! BUT IF YOU'RE EXPERIANCED AND NEED AMMO, THEN TRY IT!

Provided by YP.comThe guy that owns this store does not appear to want any more business. I have walked into this store twice now. The first time, I was ignored for the first 20 minutes while he talked to a friend at the counter. The second time, I asked if they could order something, and was told that if I didn't like the selection, I could go somewhere else. From now on, thats exactly what I will do.
