The Public Works Department, governed by the City of West University Place in Texas, is responsible for managing zoning, building, contractor registration, plan review, building permit and inspection activities for citizens. It offers code enforcement, animal control, solid waste and recycling management services. The department also provides water, sewer and street maintenance solutions. The Public Works Department operates public works administration, development, general services, planning and forestry divisions. Its general services division manages solid waste disposal, recycling, traffic control and fleet maintenance activities. The department also provides a streetlight improvement program. The Public Works Department has undertaken Kirby Drive Storm Sewer Relief Project and Bellaire Blvd. Improvement Project.
