Provided by YP.comIf you are looking to have something mounted I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
Pros: Convenient Location
Cons: Poor Customer Service (See Pic of Email); Mount Quality below expectations (See Pics); Lengthy Turnaround; Pricey
While Tri-State is pricey and turnaround is never what you were quoted, these can be rather trivial if you know what you will be rewarded with is authentic craftsmanship and a high quality mount. Unfortunately, the Wood Duck Ben Mounted for me fell well short of my expectations. After politely expressing to him my concerns, his apathetic response was shocking. Such a poor experience on a relatively straight forward duck certainly should raise some red flags on someone looking to have a one of a kind big game trophy mounted.
Every customer has their own unique expectations for quality and service so I encourage you to review the before and after pics as well as the email exchange between Ben and myself to help you decide whether or not you feel my rating is justified.

Provided by YP.comBen and Tri-State Taxidermy just completed three separate full body flying gobbler mounts and one tail feather fan with beard and spurs. Each is very life like and expertly completed.
Exceptional quality mounts done exactly as specified and delivered early. Ben is an artist and is as professional as it gets. I find it hard to believe that the other reviews are anywhere near accurate. Courteous service and top quality are what Tri State is all about. Doug Campbell Houston

Provided by YP.comDON'T take your hard earned trophy mounts to Ben Cromeens at Tri-State Taxidermy. Whether it is a Safari animal or North American, He is over priced for average quality mounts. There are many more accredited taxidermist in the Houston and surrounding area that will take a lot better care of your mount for a much more reasonable price. I took my a couple of mounts there this year because of the convenient location for me... NEVER AGAIN.
Good thing I have been so busy puting my competition out of business that they have time now to make up stories and post them on the internet. Does Yellowpages.com actually expect to have any credibility when they post libel? I can't wait for them to cold call me again and ask if I want to spend money with them.

Don't take your precious trophies to Tri-State!!! Ben Cromeens is EXPENSIVE for average quality, with poor customer service and organization. I will not bring any more mounts to Tri-State, African or North American animals.

# User Rating: 1 out of 5 stars by Erik 03/17/2011 I took them a large boars head for a full shoulder mount. A year later they still had not contacted me despite numerous messages left on their voice mail system. Even when I would get someone, he would claim I needed to speak to the owner who NEVER called me back. After many, many, many phone calls, I finally was able to speak to the owner who told me that all they had was the skull - not a full mount. When told that was incorrect and that I didn't even know what a European Mount was, he acted like a complete jerk and insinuated that I still pay for the skull! Not once did they call me in a year and a half. Not once did they return my constant phone calls. And when I told them they had made a mistake, the owner simply said "Ok" and nothing else. He did nothing to make amends. Nothing. Not even an apology. And when I asked him if this is how he treated all of his other customers, he hung up on me. Need I say more?
