I've been wanting to try Capt Benny's for awhile. Did so last night. Don't need to do it again. The meal had obviously been prepared some time before. The very small fried shrimp were flat and no flavor. coleslaw - meh. two of the tiniest hush puppies ever. We had 3 servers - so the bill came incorrect. It took a good 5-7 minutes to get the manager to correct it. It's too bad the food's not great - because the outdoor area is nice. The wait staff was really friendly. Just work on the food please.

Provided by YP.comThe General Manager (Mike) was less than professional in conducting and managing his restaurant. Business deals were being conducted in the eating area of patrons. Discussions about waiterstaff were being discussed in view of public. Inappropriate conduct and touching in public viewing. Not to mention being loud and obnixious in the dining area. Overall, waiterstaff conducted themselves in a professional manner. The food served was well prepared and the price was reasonable

Provided by YP.comAlthought the atmosphere is less than desirable, the food is fantastic! The oysters are fresh, gumbo is great, and the shimp are huge! You cannot get better seafood for the price!

Been going here off and on for a few years now. Mainly dine in. They generally have good oyster's on the half-shell and are generous on their portions. Just read the post about the 5% extra for take out. Ordered today for take out and yes, they do apply the 5%, still ordered anyway because I like their Oyster Poboy. Also have had their Freshwater Catfish, Crawfish Pero, Shrimp Platter...all have been good. Their gumbo is ok, but then again, I'm orig from Louisiana so can be picky. Their ice tea isn't very good, order a soft drink or beer.
First visit...During lunch I walked in and walked up to a counter where I saw a cashier. I asked to look at a menu. I placed an order for the Mate's Meal for $11.50. She rung the sale and asked me for $13.73. I thought it was a little high, but decided to wait for the receipt so that I could look it over. She never gave me a receipt, so I asked for one. I looked it over and noticed that there was a 5% upcharge for my order and asked why. I was told that the charge was for 'TO GO' orders. I said, "I didn't ask for it to-go" A manager came over with the menu in hand and showed me where it said that you would be charged an extra 5% for 'TO GO' orders. I replied, "I didn't ask for it to-go" he replied, "if you come in and sit down someone will come over and take your order, but if you come right up to the counter we assume that you are taking the order to go." I told him that you should never assume and that the cashier should be trained to ask if an order is "for here or to-go"
