On Friday Feb 17, 2011 my mother and I went to the Osaka Japanese Steakhouse at lunch right as they opened at 11am. When we entered the restaurant we were not greated for almost 5 minutes until we actually interrupted the employees conversation and asked if we could be seated! Then we were seated and I explained to the young lady that we had a Gift Certificate from Restraurant.com. She proceeded to tell me that it was for Dinner Only! The Gift Certificate clearly reads...Special Instructions: Minimum purchase $35. 18% gratuity added prior to discount. Excludes: Alcohol, Holidays/Special Events, Other Offers/Promotions. ***Please note NOWHERE does it state you are required to have Dinner Only. All the others that I receieved as gifts at Christmas and required you to Dine in and Dinner Only....State it. When we asked for the manager we got another young lady named Alice who proceeded to tell us that we could not order lunch. I again referred to the Gift Certificate and the fact that it DID NOT state this and that I expected them to honor it. At which time she proceeded to argue with me. We explained that we had viewed the menu the night before and had decided that we wanted to try a multitude of items and it more than exceeded the $35 requirement...it was actually going to be more than $52! Alice then stated that we had to come back at dinner AGAIN! I asked where the manager was and Alice proceeded to roll her eyes and then said that the manager wasn't available and wouldn't be there until later. After this insult and Alice's complete disrespect my mother and I stood up and left the establishment and decided we would warn EVERYONE!! DO NOT GO HERE!! They have no customer service skills and they DO NOT honor their own gift certificates. If you want something for a particular time you have to list it, otherwise it's a bait and switch...illegal in all states!
