      Jonathan's The Rub

      If you live in the Memorial-Spring Valley area, Jonathan's The Rub is right in your own backyard, but don't worry: there is no typical backyard grilling going on here. Jonathan grills up tasty food and creative combinations.



      This restaurant has surprised us! We had seen the catering truck many times as we dropped off our laundry or ran into the corner quick-stop market in the strip shopping center. We were curious when one day the restaurant appeared. What makes the place so appealing is the atmosphere: small and intimate like so many we had been to in cities like New York and San Francisco where neighborhoods offer their own culture and personality. With Jonathan cooking in the kitchen as soon as you walk through the door, friendly waitresses, and recognizable faces of friends and neighbors enjoying a bottle of wine they brought from home, the place has an appeal that keeps us returning and telling our friends to meet us there. The most important element of any restaurant, however, remains its food, and Jonathan has nailed it. The food is fresh, not too heavy or over seasoned, with fresh meats, fish, pastas, and salads. We like the fact that the fare changes from time to time with new items appearing from the chef's kitchen while items we may be craving that night are also available. We love the food and the atmosphere and the fact that Jonathan's is right in our own backyard keeps us wondering what he might be grilling up for us tonight!
