It is the third-largest integrated energy company in the United States, based on market capitalization, oil and gas proved reserves and production and one of the largest refiners in the United States. It is a non-government controlled company and recognized for its technological expertise in deepwater exploration and production, reservoir management and exploitation, 3-D seismic technology, high-grade petroleum coke upgrading and sulfur removal throughout the world. James J. Mulva has been the chief executive officer of ConocoPhillips for more than seven years. He has been with the company for 33 years. Mulva holds a BBA and MBA from the University of Texas El Paso. Headquartered in Houston, the company has nearly 35,800 employees throughout the world and assets of $104 billion. ConocoPhillips stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol COP. The company has four core activities throughout the world, which include petroleum exploration and production; petroleum refining, marketing, supply and transportation; natural gas gathering, processing and marketing, including a 50-percent interest in Duke Energy Field Services; and chemicals and plastics production and distribution through a 50 percent interest in Chevron Phillips Chemical Company.
