General Info
Divine Academy was founded in 2005 by Ingrid Garcia and Pamela Vogelsang, both with Special Education degrees and a combined total of 25 years experience at the time that they opened the school. They decided at that time to open the program as there was and still is a desperate need in the community for private schools that cater to students with autism and special needs. They made it their life's mission to provide a program where each student is given the opportunity to grow and thrive. Currently Divine Academy serves over 50 students and due to increasing enrollment, continues to expand. The central purpose and role of Divine Academy is to provide students with special needs the means and knowledge for independent living and to enter the workforce through educational, vocational, and life skills instruction in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment. Our vision is to reach as many students with special needs as possible in our community, providing the necessary tools to live, work, and enjoy life to their fullest potential. Our school program runs 40 weeks and follows the Broward County School schedule except that we do not have early release days. We offer small class sizes so that the individualized needs of each student can be met and where they can be challenged in a structured and safe environment. We offer both a regular diploma tract and a special diploma tract depending upon the needs of the child. Each student is given an IEP (Individualized Educational Program) based on their individual needs in which objectives and goals are written for the year. In addition to our academic program, students receive instruction in life skills and social skills such as handling money, taking public transportation, and engaging in appropriate conversations. If a child is in need of therapy, they can receive speech, occupational, and physical therapies from our in-house therapists. Our school is based on the belief that our students' needs are of the utmost importance. Our entire team is committed to meeting those needs. As a result, we offer a phenomenal program for students with special needs by offering an integrated and systemic approach based on the child's individual needs while providing a support system for both the child and the family. We would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you the best program and service in the industry.
