- Dental ExaminationAt Hingham Dentistry, our dentists perform a thorough oral exam during your initial visit. During subsequent check-up visits, your dentist and hygienist will also include the following...
- X-rays
- Oral Cancer ScreeningOral cancer screening: We examine your face, neck, lips, tongue, throat tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer.
- Teeth CleaningAt scheduled dental cleanings, which you should have every six months at a minimum, a hygienist will check for periodontal pockets. If you have pockets, their depth will be measured to determine the extent of the disease. Sometimes, removing tartar from below the gum line and smoothing teeth roots (using a procedure called scaling and root planing) can halt the progression and eliminate infection. Over time, gums can heal and reattach to teeth. However, in some cases, gum disease requires more extensive treatment.
- Fluoride TreatmentFluoride treatments can benefit people of all ages. Children who get adequate fluoride while their teeth are still forming often develop permanent teeth that are stronger and more decay-resistant over a lifetime. Adults who are particularly susceptible to tooth decay can also benefit from fluoride application.
- Dental SealantsWhether you're a child or adult, dental sealants are a highly effective option for additional protection against tooth decay.
- FillingsThere are different types of materials available when you need a filling. Silver amalgam fillings and composite fillings are the most widely used. However, unlike metal fillings, composite fillings can be closely matched to the shade of the existing teeth. This makes them more cosmetically pleasing.
- Resin CompositeWith dental bonding, your dentist applies tooth-colored composite resin to teeth to add more structure and fill spaces and chips. The material bonds to the existing tooth and is then molded into the desired shape. A bonding is considered a temporary restoration, but it generally lasts for several years. Many patients choose bonding as a precursor to porcelain veneers.
- VeneersPorcelain veneers are a great solution for fixing spacing issues, stained teeth, and other imperfections in your smile.
- CrownsThe crown: The prosthetic tooth, or restoration, which is placed over the abutment. Crowns are usually custom-fabricated from porcelain or ceramic.
- BridgesWhen all teeth are missing or in such condition that they need to be replaced, a fixed bridge anchored to dental implants is the best solution.
- Dental BondingTeeth can get chipped or cracked accidentally or while playing sports. Or, they may be irregularly spaced, misshapen, or discolored for any number of reasons. Fortunately, these problems can be resolved with cosmetic bonding or contouring, two processes which can reshape teeth to create a more beautiful smile.

- Bone GraftingTo be a candidate for dental implants, you must be healthy enough to undergo implant surgery. Depending on the location and number of teeth being replaced, implant candidates must have adequate gum tissue and jawbone to securely hold dental implants. In certain cases, an additional bone grafting procedure or a sinus lift will be needed to augment areas of insufficient bone or to create more space to accommodate an implant.

The Invisalign process does away with the metal wires and bands that are painful, uncomfortable, and can irritate your mouth. Best of all, most people won’t even notice you’re wearing the aligners.
- BracesIndividuals with braces: Braces can trap food and make it harder to floss and brush adequately. This increases the risk of tooth decay.

Because having a bright, luminous smile is the number one esthetic concern of most patients, Hingham Dentistry offers the Zoom teeth whitening system.
