Mountain View Elementary School enrolls more than 700 students in grades kindergarten through six. The school s curriculum includes English, math, science, social studies, language arts, music, computer, health and physical education. It has a parent-teacher organization that organizes several enrichment assemblies, programs and activities for parents, teachers and students. The school s library has a wide collection of storybooks, picture dictionaries, fiction and nonfiction books, magazines and biographies. Located in Hickory, N.C., it offers a variety of special programs that include English for speakers of other languages and courses for gifted and talented students. Mountain View Elementary School has been awarded the highest national certification level from Renaissance Learning, for outstanding performance and gains in reading schoolwide.
