- GynecologyIn addition to our standard histology and non-gynecology cytology services, the following immunohistochemistry stains, immunohistochemistry panels, and special stains are performed in our laboratory.
- GastroenterologyPiedmont Pathology enjoys the unique distinction of having on our staff one of the less than ten fellowship-trained GI pathologists in North Carolina.
- UrologyTen pathologists with a combined experience of 236 years of interpretation of urologic specimens are responsible for prostate, bladder, and urine cytologic services. Drs. Vogel, Parker, Olympio, Payne, Highland, Foster, Hamler, and Sigei all carry at least dual, and in some instances, triple board certification, including Cytopathology certification, important for the accurate diagnosis of urine samples. No pathologist in the practice has less than six years of experience in prostate pathology and other urologic diagnoses.
- Cervical CancerOur interest in the continuum of quality care for our patients and physician clients, has led us to establish a regional electronic medical record for pathology which allows us, as a matter of routine, to correlate previous and current Cytologic and Surgical Pathology samples. The regions served by Piedmont Pathology have been identified as having one of the lowest rates of invasive cervical cancer in the nation.
- EndoscopyPPA processes almost 42,000 surgical and non-gyn cytology cases annually. In 2008 we processed 6,572 special stains and 18,835 immunohistochemistry stains from our extensive and readily available menu performed in-house for extremely rapid turnaround, usually in 24 hours. Piedmont is the lab for eight major hospitals in North Carolina. Our customers include numerous surgery centers, endoscopy centers, and large specialty practices.
