Even though my father-in-law wasn't always very agreeable, the staff were great with him. For example. He was from the south and l-o-v-e-d spicy food. He was used to putting black pepper, tobasco, jalapenos, salsa and pickled peppers on his eggs and meat. So they put together a tray of all of his favorite toppings for his table when he ate! After he died, they held a nice memorial service at Haven Manor for his friends, family and staff to pay tribute to him. Afterward we all shared fond memories, popcorn and Mountain Dew (his favorite snacks). But most of all, by meeting all his physical needs, Haven Manor gave us the "gift of time". Precious time to spend connecting with him his last few months of life.
