Welcome to South Shore Ophthalmology, conveniently located in Hewlett, New York in the Long Island's Five Towns. Dr. Mark Melamed and our professional staff take great care to provide the highest caliber of prompt, friendly service for your eye care needs. Mark Melamed graduated from Yale University and New York University School of Medicine. He completed a surgical internship at Bellevue Hospital and an ophthalmology residency at NYU Medical Center, where he currently holds the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist and has been in practice in Hewlett, N.Y. since 1979. Dr. Melamed provides a full range of eye care, from routine exams, to contact lenses to laser procedures and ocular surgery for cataracts, glaucoma and other ophthalmic conditions. He has performed thousands of ophthalmological surgeries using the most advanced available techniques, all performed in a state-of-the art eye surgery center.
