Established in 1949, Herscher Community Unit School District 2 serves more than 2,000 students in prekindergarten through grade 12. It has various departments, including curriculum, technology, special services, transportation and maintenance. The district offers the Partners In Parenting program, which includes storytelling, art making, field trips, evening family events, parent workshops and home visits. Its schools academic curricula include several subjects, such as foreign languages, agriculture education, art, science, social studies, math, English, music, and family and consumer sciences. In addition, the district s schools involve students in various extracurricular activities, such as jazz band, choir, math team, pep squad, scholastic bowl, student council and National Honor Society.
