      The Henrico County Health Department assesses the public health status, prevents epidemics and the spread of disease, protects against environmental hazards, guards against the occurrence of injury-causing situations and responds to disasters. The department assures the quality and accessibility of health services and provides family planning and pediatric care services. The department administers the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, which is a federal health, nutrition and prevention program for pregnant women, infants and children under the age of 5. It supports an emergency preparedness and response program that is responsible for public health disaster planning for residents of the county. The Henrico County Health Department additionally administers communicable disease, tuberculosis, community-based services and dental programs. The department offers food handling and day care facility inspections services. It maintains a location in Richmond, Va.
