      General Info
      The Oakland Raiders began play in 1960 as part of the American Football League (AFL). After a sluggish start to the franchise, the Raiders became the one of the most dominant teams during the 10 years of AFL existence. The NFL and AFL officially merged in 1970 allowing the Raiders to expand the horizons of competition and dominance. After 43 years of play, the Raiders have a .500 or better record against 28 of 31 teams in the National Football League. The team has captured three World Championships of professional football with victories in Super Bowls XI, XV and XVIII. The franchise is owned by Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrine, Al Davis, and operates offices and a training facility in Alameda, Calif. The facility features practice fields, a full- featured weight room, locker room, player meeting rooms, an auditorium, a state-of-the-art television studio and spacious offices. The Raiders facility is also home to The Raider Image, the merchandise arm of the franchise.
