- Dental ExaminationIt’s not always obvious to patients when gum disease has developed or is advancing, which is why it’s important to schedule regular dental cleanings and exams, especially if you have a history with gingivitis or gum disease. Common signs that indicate gum disease may be present include...
- X-raysThe number of X-rays each patient needs varies for a number of different reasons. Most patients have X-rays taken once per year, but some need them done at every appointment. We will look at your dental history and whether or not you are considered high-risk for certain dental issues to determine how often you should be receiving dental X-rays. Regular X-rays are important for identifying dental problems that can’t be seen with the naked eye, like tooth decay in between teeth and infections, and it also allows our team to get a better look at the jawbone and under the gums.
- Oral Cancer Screening
- Teeth CleaningGum disease always begins as gingivitis, which may have very few or no noticeable symptoms. When it’s in this mild form, it is completely reversible and only requires regular professional dental cleanings and an extra thorough at-home oral care routine to be treated. After this, gum disease advances to slight, moderate, and advanced periodontal disease. Periodontal disease develops when the bacteria begin attacking the bone. A dental professional must step in at this point to treat the infection and prevent the disease from advancing further.
- Fluoride TreatmentPreventive dental care is one of the easiest ways you can keep your gums and teeth clean and healthy and avoid restorative dental work. Routine dental cleanings remove built-up plaque and tartar that is hard to reach with a toothbrush, and regular dental exams performed by dental professionals can catch potential issues before they turn into bigger problems. Fluoride treatments and dental sealants add extra protection to the teeth in terms of protecting them from tooth decay. If you are involved in athletics or you know you grind your teeth at night, a custom mouthguard can go a long way in protecting your teeth.
