I was sent to him by a friend for a custon pair of Work Boots. I admit he his outstandingly gruff and bitter to deal with at first. I was a little worried while awaiting the boots I had ordered, however I will never buy another over the counter pair of whites or the like. The Boots fit like slippers! I wear them every day for the past 20 years. Been threw a few rebuilds and resoles over the years with absolutly no complaints. I strongly advise to take him seriously for he knows whats best for your foot. Best cobbler I ever run across. Just got another new pair beautiful craftsmanship, got 3 rebulds and 15 years before the old ones finnaly shot. I can not saw enough to express that his man has earned his stripes to be as gruff as he wants, and always you get what you pay for he is worth every penny.

Mr. Ryan was recommended by a colleague, and he did work on three pairs of Lucchese boots for me during late 2004 and early 2005. He re-soled and re-heeled two pairs, each of which I am still wearing; the third pair, my tuxedo boots, he stretched so that I could get them on and wear them in spite of the fact that I'm 40 pounds heavier than when I got them. He knows his craft, I have worked with cobblers who had no clue what they were doing, and some who did not give two whoops about what they were doing; I assure you that Mr. Ryan knows his craft thoroughly and practices it well. I told him what I thought that I wanted, he offered the benefit of his experience and suggestions on the materials to use - I took his advice and the fact that I'm still comfortably wearing the same boots on the same soles and heels tells me that it was some of the best listening that I ever did. Darned fine work at a very reasonable cost. I'll send my next reparis to him (from wherever I am) as well.

Love this shop, love the customer service, love the owner. He is pretty gruff, but I think thats part of the appeal- once you meet him he is very sweet. He does wonderful work on shoes, and for a reasonable price. I've taken shoes to him several different times to be re-heeled, or have stitches sewn in, or embellishments replaced, and always left with a smile on my face. Wouldn't want to take my shoes anywhere else!
