- Hinton Center is also perfect for family or class reunions, baby or bridal showers, or just a place to gather with friends from near and far. It is also becoming very popular as a wedding venue, offering the indoor chapel overlooking beautiful Lake Chatuge, or a lovely, romantic setting on the labyrinth. Lodging offerings include houses by the lake, apartment style rooms, two cottages, hermitage cabins, large retreat buildings and plenty of meeting spaces. Hinton Center also has an indoor chapel, outdoor worship spaces, and a labyrinth. A special amenity, somewhat new to Hinton Center, is our wonderful choice of fresh and delicious food, carefully prepared by our very own executive chef. Dining services are available upon request for visiting guests and groups. Each year a Easter Brunch and a Mothers Day brunch are offered to the public. Unlike many retreat centers, Hinton Centers food may be one of the many reasons our guests choose to come back and visit us. Whether you are seeking a nice place to stay while on vacation or facilities with plenty of space for group retreats, Hinton Center provides spaces to stay as well as get away. Something extra special about Hinton Center is that your stay with us will help benefit our outreach ministries.

General Info
Winding and winding up the ascending 2 mile road, you realize you must be arriving at a sacred place, leaving everything behind. When you finally arrive to the very top of the hill you know youve reached Hinton Rural Life Center. In the past locals might have thought of Hinton Center as, that Methodist place up on the hill. However, this ecumenical non-profit embodies many different impactful ministries that reach out to surrounding communities and guests served throughout the year. Hinton Rural Life Center began in 1957 with a vision, a building, and four and one-half acres of land in Hayesville. The Hinton Center came into being as the result of a gift of property from J. Walter and Velma Moore of Hayesville; a gift of money by Alice Lanier Hinton in memory of her late husband, Harold H. Hinton, of Athens, Georgia; and contributions of money, materials and labor made by people and churches. The vision for Hinton Center embodied an interest in the development of a group ministry under the auspices of the United Methodist Church that would serve an isolated rural community and, over time, touch the lives of people across the country.
