- Fluoride TreatmentUnless you see a suspicious area, we normally see a child around age 3 1/2 to 4 years old. At that time we can do a “Happy Visit” which includes familiarizing them with various procedures that we normally do during a check-up and exam. Some children are ready for x-rays, prophy and fluoride treatment at this time.
- Dental SealantsSealants are helpful in controlling decay in certain areas of your mouth. They are an acrylic like material that seal out decay causing bacteria from the chewing surfaces of back teeth. There is no specific age when sealants are received, but we often place them when the six year molars appear. If a person is susceptible to tooth decay, we can place them on primary teeth or an adult tooth that has not been filled.
- FillingsI will remove the silver/mercury fillings if someone requests it. However, if someone doesn’t consume hot or cold food or drinks, these amalgam fillings may last 20 to 30 years.
- VeneersI use two types of veneers, laboratory veneers and composite veneers. Laboratory veneers are more expensive than composite veneers
- CrownsA temporary crown is made of resin and is not as strong as the permanent crown will be, so you need to treat it carefully. Do not eat hard or sticky foods. If it comes uncemented, you can coat the inside with toothpaste or vaseline and push it back onto the tooth. Call the office and we will get you in to recement the temporary crown right away. When flossing a temporary crown, pull the floss out to the side, do not pop floss up toward the chewing surface.
- BridgesA dental bridge requires two crowns adjacent to the bridge to hold it in place. So if there are already two crowns adjacent to the tooth in question, a bridge can be used.
- Root Canal TreatmentI do root canals which involves removing the nerves from teeth that have become infected into the teeth.
- Deep CleaningThis was my first visit here. I was recommended by a friend and was not disappointed! Very clean and tidy waiting area, office and lab/dental area! Although Ive had routine cleanings recently, the dental staff found I needed some deep cleaning. Dr. Hann also recommended some fillings needed replacing, which leads me to believe the last place wasnt doing a great job on my dental health. I look forward to future visits with Dr. Hann and his professional staff!
- DenturesPartials are dentures that come in and out of the mouth. The partial is made out of cast metal, and has clasps that grab onto your natural teeth.
- Overdentures
- Dental ImplantsEven when bridges are less expensive they have inherent problems while implants solve many of those problems. In general, we choose implants over bridges.
- Oral Surgery
- Tooth ExtractionsSometimes a specialist can get the bone to grow back. However, often, if you try to keep the tooth, bacteria will wick down that tooth and the bone won’t grow back. You can remove much of the tissue but it’s difficult to get to all of the bacteria that is attached to that tooth so a tooth extraction is done.
- OrthodonticsHe works closely with the other dental specialists in the North Idaho area and enjoys diagnosing and treating complex cases involving orthodontics, gum disease, implants, and full cosmetic restoration. He regularly takes dental continuing education courses in order to stay current with the many changes taking place in the dental field today. Currently, he belongs to a Dental Study Club that meets quarterly for two study days at a time to discuss current developments in the field of dentistry.
- Invisalign OrthodonticsFollowing evaluation by a dentist, a laboratory will fabricate a series of clear aligners to incrementally move a patient’s teeth into the desired positions. Popular companies that work with dentists to offer this service include Invisalign, Suresmile, and ClearCorrect [C1]. Using computer-aided design and 3D printing, this entire design and fabrication process can now be completed in-house at dental offices. At Cornerstone Dental we have chosen to oversee each step in-office to ensure the best possible outcome for our patients. As we diagnose, custom design, and fabricate a patient’s aligners we are able to offer a high quality product while also passing along considerable savings to our patients.
- BracesThere are many cases where you might want a dental veneer. You can do a veneer such that if a tooth was crooked, you can use a dental veneer to make that tooth appear straight. A common case is that one crooked tooth is set back and all the other teeth are straight. When I create the veneer, it takes up that thickness, pulling the tooth forward. So then without braces, all the teeth are now straight.
- Teeth Whitening80% of toothpastes will cause sensitive teeth if you have exposed roots. The problems are caused by the whitening, brightening toothpastes (which contain abrasives and desiccants) and the tartar-control toothpastes.
- Cosmetic DentistryThat’s the way my staff is too; my hygienists and my front office. We look at the whole patient and support their decisions. When we see a patient for the first time, it’s important to find out what concerns them. A lot of people aren’t concerned with cosmetic dentistry; they are only interested in having teeth that work and they don’t want them whiter and they don’t want them straighter necessarily. After I explain all the options to them, if they still feel that way, I honor their priorities. Once I find out what a patient’s priorities are, I will explain if they have a condition that’s going to get worse without intervention. They may want to ignore it, so then I will monitor the situation and keep them updated each visit.
