General Info
Drs. Schapiro and his associates are well trained in all phases of Pediatric Dentistry. Before initiating any treatment, they will review your child's medical history thoroughly, and call your pediatrician if there are any medical concerns. They will answer any of your questions and review treatment options, so that you feel confident that your child is getting the best dental care possible. And before any treatment is started, fees are discussed so that there are no surprises at the end of the visit. Oral Hygiene An integral part of maintaining your child's dental health and establishing good habits for home care and diet are check-ups on a regular basis. The frequency of the visits depends on your child's needs and oral health, but most children are seen every six months. During these check-up visits, your child's medical history will be updated, x-rays may be taken, and the teeth will be checked for cavities. Oral hygiene (brushing and flossing) instructions will be given, and your child will be checked for any developing orthodontic needs. Fluoride treatments will be given and any supplemental fluoride tablets or drops for home use will be prescribed when appropriate (Cecil County has no fluoride in the drinking water). If you are unsure of the fluoride content of your drinking water, you can bring us a small sample of the water and we will send it to a lab to analyze the fluoride concentration for you.

My kids have seen Dr. Schapiro since they were little. Its been over 7 years of exceptional service. He is the only Doctor my kids ASK to see? When are we going back to Dr Schapiro Mom?? He must be pretty great to Want to go see.. His office is very kid friendly, movies are always playing, toys and books to keep them occupied. Never a long wait. Very professional and courteous staff. I highly recommend him.
My 5 children have been going to Dr. Schapiro's office for about 5 years now. The staff are driven by quality, integrity, and character. They provide exceptional services to all their clients. I absolutely LOVE the fact that I can set appointments for all 5 of my children at one time and been seen in a timely manner. There is a wonderful child friendly waiting area for all your youngsters. I would highly recommend Dr. Howard Schapiro to anyone!
As a physician I am a very selective health care consumer. My two teenage boys have been seeing Dr. Shapiro since they had teeth. Not only has he provided excellent dental care, he and his staff are always personal, helpful, and they make it a fun experience for the kids. Dr. Shapiro is skilled as well as kind, funny, and honest. As many young Pediatric Dentists are starting out, I know Dr. Shapiro has been a role model and mentor for many. We are very lucky to have his expertise in our area. I would recommend him first and foremost to anyone.
My daughter went to see her regular dentist to have an abscessed tooth taken care of. With a big needle in the dentist's hand, trying to hide it from my daughter, she said, OK now. Close your eyes. At that point my daughter freaked and began to cry and wouldn't open her mouth. I didn't think I would ever be able to get her into a dentist office again! Her regular dentist said we would have to see a pediatric specialist and referred us to your office.
Your office and staff took special care of her, as if you had no other patients that day. You constantly talked to her, explaining every tool and procedure at her level and didn't start until she was comfortable.
She came out of your office feeling no pain, not being afraid of having a shot, feeling proud and confident that she was able to 'conquer' a previously 'very scary' experience. And also, not only did you do her one required tooth that day, you also noticed another tooth that had been affected by the abscessed tooth, which our regular dentist didn't even mention to me. Even though my daughter knew she had to come back in for another shot and tooth pulled, she didn't have any reservations and wasn't scared.
I would recommend Dr. Schapiro's office to anyone! My daughter looks forward to coming to the dentist now!

Whatever it is that you desire in a pediatric dentist; Dr. Howard Schapiro and his staff of highly qualified individuals are unsurpassed. Across the sprectrum of professionalism, friendliness, knowledge base, care and comfort of your child, ease of making an appointment, cleanliness of the office, etc.; they have exceeded in excellence. They do a fantastic job at comforting me during dental procedures, as they do my sons. Jen, the office manager, is awesome! My son needed 3 separate appointments to have some dental work done. It was the end of summer and he was starting kindergarten soon. I didn't want him missing a lot of school. Jen worked diligently at working his appointments into the schedule so that he wouldn't miss school. I could write 100 more reasons that make Dr. Schapiro and his staff the best! My kids LOVE going to the dentist, and yours will too!
