Prime Tanning Company, Inc., established in 1920, is a supplier of leather to the footwear, apparel, accessory and upholstery companies. Prime Tanning has a production facility in Berwick, Maine featuring more than 200,000 square feet of production, R and D and office space, the Berwick facility serves as Prime's finished product operation as well as its headquarters. The factory located in St. Joseph, Mo. is the largest blueing factory in the U.S. producing more than 2 million feet of wet blue per week. Hides leave the St. Joseph facility ready for dying and processing. This facility supplies all the leather that is finished at Prime's plant in Maine as well as other tanneries around the world.
