Garden Hill is a slum lord. The apartment on Collins Street was dirty when we moved in but didn't realize until the electricity came on. Imagine millions of loose strands of hair everywhere, broken doors and cabinets, and obvious patchwork. Their boiler is broke and so no consistent heat or hot water. The winter was brutal. They do not respond to maintenance repairs and the building is falling apart. The doors are not secure and the hallways are filthy. Their onsite laundry consist of a couple dirty machines in the abandoned basement. But the kicker is- after my lease is up in a few months, my rent automatically increases $100 when it isn't worth what I am paying now.

My advice is do not rent from Garden Hill and talk to residents before you rent anywhere
again.

I've been a tenant for nine years they are poor when it comes to maintenance for almost two years I've been complaining on the things that need to be done in my apartment I believe I have over 16 work orders for the same things I've been complaining about I wish I can show you pics n videos I collected from my apartment I suggest you don't rent from them

The owners of Garden Hill Apartment need to be ashamed of themselves. You would think a leasing agency who owns so much property would take better care of their apartments. I lived on Sigourney Street in their apartments for 2 years too long. My apartment leaked for almost a year. I called the office numerous times and when someone came to look at the leak all they did was LOOK AT THE LEAK. My apartment started to smell badly due to water damage and eventually mold started to form on my ceiling. Now that I have left they charge me an additional $60 for moving on a Sunday and $25 for a parking pass that was not returned. Who in their right mind would want to park in a lot that is full of huge pot holes!!! If you have an option do NOT live here. I am very grateful I was able to move.

I have lived here for about a year and you have your normal once in a while issues as you would in any home and the turn around time is decent in getting things done. I see a lot of pest complaints here where I just think if you are having an issue make them aware of it ASAP so it can be taken care of they obv have pest maintenance as they come in our homes quite a few times a year to help prevent that. Hartford is Hartford - learn the areas here if you want to talk about "safety". I think the office staff are pleasant and have always been willing to help when and if I need it.

Bad place to live on webster st lots of breakins to cars crime through the roof and cars get towed for stupid reasons I cant wait to get out of here

I'll agree with everyone else, it's a decent place but it will do if you need a cheap place that isn't a studio. I lived in one of their units for one year and never felt totally safe. The front and back doors were always broken so anyone could get in. Had mice problems on several occasions and the best they could do was come in and put some repellent packs around. You can do laundry in the basement but that's a mold factory. The management staff is a group of cranky women who are rarely willing to help. Bye!

I would also give zero stars if I could! The worse place to live! They lie to get you to sign the lease! Don't be fooled by the first month free ot the $250 off! Stay away! Everyone in my building is moving out because of how poorly they treat you, keep the place and the nasty bed bugs! I'm currently the only tenant on my floor! People leave out and leave their furniture due to rats and bed bugs!! The property mAnager had the audacity to tell me that I could have brought the bed bugs in because they are every where EG.. malls restaurants and retail stores. Seriously the worse place to live! Call them with and issue and leave multiple messages but never receive a reply. When you finally speak to someone in the office you're greeted with nothing but attitude! Last year after the snow storm tenants in my building was snowed in for 5 days!! People couldn't leave to work or school. They have the nerve to not discount the rent for that month. It's basic math! If we can't leave to go to work to get money because they didn't plow the snow how Are we suppose to pay full rent ?! And why should we struggle because of their negligence? Slumlords!! The worse play to live!!! Stay away!!

I love my apartment at Garden Hill! I moved in about 7 months ago and my unit was partially renovated. They are very simple and clean and the price is great! They office staff is helpful and my leasing agent was the BEST! I recommend moving here if you are looking for an affordable clean apt in Hartford.

I would give them ZERO stars if this system would let. me. DO NOT sign a lease with these slumlords. Their "leasing agents" are hustlers who scam you into believing you are moving into a renovated unit, when it's all smoke and mirrors and the unit is a rat hole. Seriously, STAY AWAY!
